The growing number of people who are exhausted and in search of a better life does not coincide by accident with the rise in popularity of PERSONAL development books and videos...
- The introspection -
Many of us are afraid of introspection, because we know that if we exclude the outside world and look inward, we are forced to face our problems, trauma, our true feelings, and most importantly our demons.
A useful attitude to cultivate on an inner journey is that of the urge to play. When we walk through the clutter of our internal world, with enough time, persistence, and self-esteem, we open up to a stronger, more empowered version of ourselves. WARNING : Pain and ugliness are inevitable!
- The journal -
A journal will allow us to establish our personal balance sheet. By rereading some passage from the past, we will also be able to better see the path already travelled and better understand our current situation. By jotting down our thoughts on paper, we allow ourselves to process what has been accumulated, to clear our mind, and clarify the way we live.
We can write in our journal when we wake up, before going to bed or simply whenever we feel like it or we think it is best. Let’s not worry about what we write, we shall just allow the words to slip on the paper. If we're stuck, let's start thinking about things that make us angry, sad, or thigs that we need to smile or laugh... any emotion that comes our way (Unfortunately, negative emotions are more powerful and invasive).
- Collection -
In today's hyper-stimulated world, calm and solitude have become scarce commodities. But we can find them through mindfulness, meditation and/or spending time alone in nature. Devoting time to these practices allows us to examine the choices we make on a daily basis.
One way to help us remember is to write down or audio record or video record the flow of our thoughts at a specific time, then read, listen or watch us. So with time and practice, we will recover the power of our being and we will be free to see things in a more harmonious and understanding perspective.
- Information -
Reading books or blogs, opens a window for us that is filled with ideas, wisdom and valuable knowledge, from another person's world. Let’s keep this in mind when we want to apply certain theorems to ourselves, because our mission is to be the best version of ourselves, not to try to be like someone else.
And if we are more an auditory learner, or are constantly on the move, we can listen to podcasts and audiobooks on the topics we want to learn more about, applying the same caution as with the readings.
- The time -
Keep in mind that any worthwhile trip has its share of ups and downs. The key is to keep moving forward, to trust the perseverance, the honesty that will lead us on the path that is ours. We must therefore take the time and learn to discern what seems right and wrong to us.
Conclusions
Finding our true self or even our vocation is not always easy. Rather, it is the result of a series of circumstances and/or challenges (random or not). The transient nature of the experience, and our tendency to forget things, prompts us to rediscover and relearn the same lesson over and over again... which makes it a long process.
