As a fitness and motivation icon, Shaun T has helped millions of people to transform their bodies and their lives, through his workouts such as Hip-Hop Abs, INSANITY, CIZE and many more. Alternately adorable and our executioner (during training), his desire to help others stems from his personal experience...
- The man of letters -
Shaun Thompson, born May 2, 1978, is an American fitness trainer and one of the leading figures of the Beachbody Group.
Football, baseball and racetrack enthusiast as a student of Deptford Township. He graduated with a Bachelor of Sports Science from Rowan University, where he also studied theatre and dance.
- The content -
« T is for Transformation » unveils seven principles of transformation that have guided Shaun T's footsteps. This motivational lesson exposes strong events from his history in detail. He uses these stages of his life to highlight the skills and techniques he developed to become the person and trainer he is today.
He insists that our worst obstacles, even in the most difficult times, are the shackles of our mind. Shaun T guides us to get results, drawing inspiration from his path, showing us how to become more flexible and resourceful, to give everything and to trust the path we have chosen.
Without necessarily imposing on us, what we must do, but rather by bringing us to reflection, to define our own path, he guides us through exercises of awareness of our journey and/or our situation. Every step is a starting point, and when necessary, to pause and contemplate the path already travelled is also an advancement towards the better version of us (everything has led us to here and now).
- My observations -
Within the pages, as he offers us personal « superpowers » to keep in our « secret bag », Shaun T's energy and positivity is palpable from the very beginning of the book.
This book is both heart-breaking and uplifting, As Shaun T is open and thoughtful, recounting the events of his life, dropping « truth bombs » throughout.
« T is for Transformation » includes self-tests and other exercises to practice the same « truth bombs ».
However, the chosen form and the narrative style might demotivate more than one (which is kind of ironic).
Conclusions
Anyone who has taken any of Shaun T’s training programs knows that he is focused on inner strength to achieve physical strength. This book doesn't cut it, it invites us to mental resistance and resilience using physical form (not brute force).
